Warwick's Victorian Evening marks return of Christmas celebrations

Leamington Editorial 30th Nov, 2021   0

CHRISTMAS was back in Warwick with the return of the town’s ever-popular Victorian Evening.

Festive-minded folk took a step back in time to experience the sights, sounds and smells of a Victorian Christmas.

After the pandemic forced the cancellation of last year’s event, organisers were determined to make this year a real Christmas cracker.

Many took the opportunity to attire themselves in their finest Victorian garb to enjoy all manner of entertainment, from real life reindeer at the Lord Leycester Hospital to the Christmas Tree Festival in St Mary’s Church.

There were also traditional 19th century fun fair rides, and new this year, was a Victorian market.

And of course the switch was flicked on the Christmas Lights.

* Warwick Rotary Lights of Love tree is shining brightly in Market Square.

Cards will remain on the tree until the New Year and there will be a Dedication Carol Service on Sunday December 12 at 4pm.
