Warwickshire artist auctions off charity-inspired piece for Acorns Children's Hospice

AN ORIGINAL piece of art from a Stratford artist aims to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The specially commissioned piece from Jon Stiff, entitled ‘The Journey’, will be auctioned off – with 100 per cent of proceeds going to the charity which provides care to children and families across the Midlands.

Jon said the piece was inspired by the charity’s care for families through challenging times.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted I’ve been given the opportunity to create this work for such a worthy charity.

“What this particular creation represents for me is the passage of time. It’s also an emotive piece, with four distinct areas each depicting a different feeling as it progresses towards light and hope.

“It’s a sizeable piece with real purpose and I absolutely adore it. It’s a privilege to know that this work will help benefit the work of Acorns and the local families this wonderful charity supports.”

Alongside ‘the Journey’, the auction features a further 40 lots, made up of work donated by local artists and collectors, and a number of limited edition prints from well-known names including Sarah Taylor, Paul Normansell and street-artist Gent48.

Acorns spokeswoman Olivia Kaluna said: “We’re so grateful to Jon for donating such a powerful piece of work to the auction. This is a fantastic opportunity for collectors to get their hands on something unique and it will be a striking addition to any home.

“As a charity, we rely on fundraising to continue our work, so the funds raised from this auction will be vital in helping us continue our work caring for children and their families. A huge thank you to Jon and all the other wonderful artists and collectors for contributing to this auction.”

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for children and young people with life limiting and life-threatening conditions. It costs the charity £27,000 every day to continue, relying on donations for the majority.

The online auction runs until 8pm on Sunday December 20. Visit www.jumblebee.co.uk/acornschildrenshospiceonlineauction to bid.
