SCHOOL chef Tanya Malone is celebrating after cooking up a winning menu – again.

Leamington resident Tanya, who is employed by Educaterers and based at Rugby Free Secondary School, won the West Midlands School Chef of the Year title for the second year running.

The five West Midlands contestants in the regional final, held in Melton Mowbray, had to cook their dishes against the clock and under the scrutiny of a panel of judges.

They had 90 minutes to prepare a main course and a dessert suitable for serving to 11 year-olds in school.

Tanya’s winning dishes were Twist of Fish – fish crumble with spaghetti potato, courgette, and carrot puree, followed by a dessert of Twist Pizza – sweet topped pizza with a wedge of lime jelly.

Tanya, who previously won while working at Southam Primary School, now goes forward to the national final of the LACA (Lead Association for Catering in Education) School Chef of the Year competition taking place in Stratford on March 7.
