Warwickshire clay shoot hits the mark for farming charity

Leamington Editorial 6th Jun, 2023   0

A CLAY shoot has racked up almost £28,000 for a farming charity.

More than 180 property professionals and landowners across 45 teams took part in the shoot at Shuckburgh Estate on the Warwickshire-Northamptonshire border.

The event was hosted by Southam-based Newton LDP for the second year running to bank cash for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution – a national charity that provides local support to the farming community across England and Wales.

As well as a dinner, auction and raffle, the fundraiser included a poignant talk from farmer James Chapman on the support he received from the farming community, having tragically lost his left arm when his clothing got caught in the machinery he was working on.

Richard Foxon, Managing Director of Newton LDP, said: “It was a fantastic day and we are really humbled by the support and generosity of our sponsors, supporters and guests that attended on the day.

“It was particularly moving to hear from James on the role that RABI play, and we were delighted to welcome him as our guest speaker, having also taken part in the shoot on the day.

“Our partnership with RABI is something very close to us at Newton LDP, with many of us having lived and worked within the farming community for most of our working lives.

“To see so many take part in this fundraiser once again, which has now raised in excess of £50,000, is fantastic to see and I would like to extend my thanks to all who took part and sponsored the event, as well as congratulations to the winners.”

Returning champions Adalta Real took home the Newton LDP Cup once again, with Three Shires Trailers and Brand Farm Films completing the top three.
