Warwickshire community projects can apply for councillors' cash

COMMUNITY projects across Warwickshire can now apply for councillors’ cash.

Warwickshire County Council has launched the first round of this year’s Councillor Grant Fund, which is open to community and voluntary groups across the county.

The fund provides each of WCC’s 57 councillors with an allocated fund of £8,000 to support small-scale projects within their area that have a positive impact on the wider community.

And following feedback from previous applicants, WCC has reviewed and simplified the application process, particularly for smaller grant amounts of up to £350. Successful applications will also be processed promptly to ensure that the funding is distributed quickly and effectively.

Last year, a total amount of £469,721.17 was distributed throughout the county.

WCC’s culture spokeswoman Coun Heather Timms said: “The Councillors’ Grant Fund for 2023-24 represents an excellent opportunity for our community members to come together and build a better, healthier, and more inclusive Warwickshire. We encourage all eligible organisations to submit their proposals, and we look forward to supporting community initiatives that make a positive impact on our communities.”

The application window is now open and closes at 5pm on Saturday June 18.

To support the application process, WCC’s Communities and Partnerships Team and WCAVA will be holding engagement sessions in May and June to provide guidance and answer questions related to the application process around Warwickshire.

There will be two free online Zoom webinars on May 17 and May 25, both from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Then drop-in sessions will take place at Acorn Court in Lillington on May 22 from 10.30am to 12 noon, at the CAVA Office in Clemens Street, Leamington on June 5 between 10.30am and 12 noon, Galanos House in Southam on May 31 from 10.30am to 12 noon, Stratford Library on June 1 between 2pm and 4pm, Benn Partnership Centre in Rugby on May 17 from 1pm to 3pm and Rugby Methodist Church Centre on May 24 from 10am to 12 noon,
