Warwickshire County Council expects successful outcome for A Level data

Leamington Editorial 17th Aug, 2017   0

THOUSANDS of Warwickshire students are celebrating a successful round of exam results today.

Results from individual schools and colleges have yet to be collected but the local authority is expecting a continuation of successful outcomes.

And detailed data about the county’s overall performance will be published by the Department for Education in the autumn.

Warwickshire County Council spokesman Coun Colin Hayfield said: “Congratulations to everyone collected their results yesterday. Once again Warwickshire’s young people have worked very hard for their exams and deserve these great results, we are extremely proud of their successes.”

“Today is about much more than A Levels, students who have attained further education and other vocational qualifications should also be congratulated on their achievements. The good set of results we are expecting is a testament to each individual and also to the first class teaching, support and encouragement provided by school and college staff, parents and carers.

“I wish everyone success as they embark on the next stage of their lives, in whatever pathway they choose next, be it entering the world of work or continuing full-time studies at universities and colleges. Increasingly, many may choose to combine the two approaches by taking up the advanced apprenticeships that are on offer in the area. These can give the best of both worlds, allowing young people to gain skills that are of great value to employers, while being paid for their contributions to the companies they have joined.”

While many students have gained the grades they need for higher education or employment, there will be others who have not achieved the outcomes they had hoped for.

Those who did not gain the grades they hoped for can find support through their college or school or contact The National Careers Service which offers free information and advice about education, training and work on 0800 100 900.
