WARWICKSHIRE Hunt has denied a dog hit by a train near Leamington was one of its hounds.
British Transport Police confirmed officers were called to the line between Leamington and Banbury stations after a report of a group of trespassers and a dog struck by a train on New Year’s Day.
West Midlands Hunt Saboteurs said they had been contacted by passengers on the train who claimed they had seen hounds ‘out of control’ on the line.
But Warwickshire Hunt spokesman Sam Butler denied the dog belonged to the group.
He told The Observer: “I can say that categorically none of our hounds were hit or injured.
“I rang the man responsible for our hounds to confirm he took 33 out in the morning and all came back well and uninjured.”
