Warwickshire's High Sheriff adds clout to primary school mock trial

A SPECIAL visitor gave a mock trial at a Warwick primary school some extra clout.

The High Sheriff of Warwickshire, David Kelham, dropped into All Saints’ Primary School as the year 6 pupils staged the mock trial into cyber bullying.

The youngsters took on the roles of magistrates, witnesses, court solicitors and local police and decided a verdict and sentence.

The visit was part of a community engagement initiative led by the Magistrates’ Association.

Members of the association have been visiting primary schools across Warwickshire to educate children about how the justice system works, what magistrates do, and the consequences of crime, peer pressure and cyber bullying.

Mr Kelham said: “It was a real pleasure to see such a well-put-together presentation land so well with its audience. A key message for those just going out into the dangerous world.”
