PEREGRINE Falcons nesting in the tower of Leamington Town Hall have welcomed some fluffy new arrivals.
Fans of the birds of prey have been following the family’s progress on a webcam installed back in 2017.
And since March they have watched the adults making their scrape in the nest box to laying their four eggs.
While three of the chicks have now made their entrance into the world, experts at Warwickshire Wildlife Trust (WWT) believe the fourth may not hatch.
Philippa Arnold oversees the Peregrine Project for WWT said: “Unfortunately, it looks as though egg number four isn’t going to hatch, although the parents are doing a fantastic job in looking after the three chicks they do have – all three seem to be healthy and are being fed very well.
“I have to say a massive thank you to the volunteers that control and manage the camera for us – they once again have managed to capture some fantastic footage over the last couple of weeks.
“I, like all the regular webcam viewers, look forward to seeing what the next few weeks bring and will have my fingers crossed that all three chicks successfully fledge around June.”
The nest box and webcams were installed back by WWT in partnership with Warwick District Council and Baydale Control Systems, with the cameras being sponsored by Lockwoods Ski & Outdoor.
The peregrines – the world’s fastest animal, which can reach speeds of more than 240 mph during dives – have been being watched by viewers across the world.
It has not been plain sailing for the adults this year – the female had to chase off an intruder to the nest as a juvenile peregrine entered the tower.
Then in mid April, the female accidentally bowled into one of the boards in the tower windows, knocking it out of place.
