Whitnash scout group on the hunt for new members

A SCOUT group in Whitnash is on the hunt for new members.

The 1st Whitnash Scouts had a large number of recruits join four years ago but those members have since become too old and will be moving onto the Explorer Scouts group.

This means the Murcott Road East-based group is now looking for girls and boys between the age of ten and a half and 14 to join its ranks.

The group enjoys two or three camps each year where they take part in activities including archery, air rifle shooting, climbing and abseiling.

They also spend time learning practical skills such as painting, fixing computers, changing tap washers and maintaining bikes.

The group has received four chief scouts gold awards in the last six months while their teams came 1st and 2nd in the most recent Warwickshire Scout competition camp.

They meet every Tuesday from 7.30pm to 9pm at the Methodist Church Hall on Murcott Road East.

Anyone interested in joining can email scout leader John McMahon on [email protected] or call 01926 775942.
