Wilko move sparks changes for Leamington shopping centre

THE ROYAL Priors in Leamington is set to see some big changes.

Value homeware store Wilko is setting up shop over four units in the lower mall of the shopping centre later this year.

Several businesses are preparing to move into different units to make way for Wilko.

In the run up to Christmas, Game moved into the upper mall and clothing store Animal is preparing to do the same.

Walnut and Weave has moved round the corner into the former Spangles unit, and music shop Head will be moving into the now-empty unit next to Ann Summers.

And Hawkin’s Bazaar made the decision to leave Leamington last month.

Wilko will convert the run of units into one 10,000 square-foot store. It is set to open in the summer. It has not yet been confirmed how many jobs would be created.

Royal Priors Manager, Gerry McManus said: “Wilko has proved a popular store in Kenilworth and it will be a welcome addition to Leamington.

“We’ve been able to work with the other retailers to make space for the new store and I think it has been a win-win situation for all involved.”
