Work starts on developments at Playbox Theatre

WORK has started on a new drive and car park at Playbox Theatre’s Dream Factory hq in Warwick.

The £100,000 improvements are being carried out thanks to a loan from Warwick District Council and will see extra parking spaces and safer access created to the Shelley Avenue theatre.

District business spokesman Coun Noel Butler said: “Playbox Theatre play an important role in our community providing so many opportunities for children and young people to train and perform and experience the performing arts. Following the extension and subsequent change of access to and from Aylesford School, we are very pleased to lend our practical support to the users and visitors to these wonderful facilities.”

Theatre director Mary King says the improvements will help secure the future of the Warwick-based site for generations to come.

She said: “The loan has enabled a swift start to be made and is the cornerstone in our project to develop the Dream Factory for future generations of young people in the area.”
