A YOUNG golfer is preparing to tee off in aid of Macmillan.
Warwick School boy Charlie England will join a team of golfers from Coventry Golf Club to take on ‘The Longest Day Golf Challenge’ on June 21.
The 12-year-old – together with club chairman Murray Newham, ladies’ captain Sylvia Newham, professional Sam Dodds – will play four rounds – 72 holes – covering nearly 20 miles, in a day.
The challenge will begin at 5am and they hope to be finished by 9pm.
Charlie was motivated to raise money for Macmillan after his mum’s recent diagnosis of breast cancer and after suggesting the idea to his golf club, he soon had their full support.
Charlie’s mum, Liz said: “I’m so proud of Charlie to take on this challenge. It’s wonderful he is able to make something so positive out of what is a challenging time for our family.”
