Youngster hands petition to save Warwick splash pool to district council

A YOUNG swimmer at St Nicholas Park is hoping to save the splash pool.

Three year-old Oscar Sternberg is a frequent user of the pool for children and has handed a 240-signature petition to Warwick District Council calling for plans to scrap the pool to be reconsidered.

Many parents and swimmers want the splash pool to be refurbished along with the rest of the leisure centre rather than being demolished as part of the planned £12million revamp of St Nicholas Park and Newbold Comyn leisure centres.

Both sites would see gym and changing facilities improved as well as the main swimming pools given a face lift.

The council is keen to encourage parents to take youngsters to the more modern children’s pool at Newbold Comyn.

Oscar gave the petition to Coun John-Paul Bromley and Coun Jackie D’Arcy who have supported the campaign to get the council to rethink their decision on the pool.
