YOUNGSTERS in Lighthorne are getting bags of help with a new playground.
Villagers are celebrating after being chosen to receive a grant from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme – which reinvests the 5p carrier bag charge in grassroots projects.
A group of parents have been fund-raising for years – already buying new swings, see-saw and trim-trail – to rejuvenate the shabby 1960’s village playground.
And now they will be able to complete the transformation thanks to a grant of between £8,000 and £12,000 from the supermarket giant’s scheme.
The exact total received will be subject to the result of a vote by shoppers at local stores, which is taking place this week.
