FLEET-FOOTED youngsters clocked up the equivalent of 18 marathons during Leamington’s inaugural Eco Fest.
Local charity Kids Run Free set up a 100m course for tots, as young as one, and teenagers alike during the festival at the Pump Room Gardens earlier this month.
Nearly 200 took part collectively running around 470 miles – the equivalent of 18 marathons.
Eight-year-olds ran the furthest, clocking up over 90km between, them and all participants ran an average of around 2.5km.
CEO Martine Verweij said: “It was great to see so many kids taking part and all the smiling faces as they collected their lap bands. The event was buzzing with people and it’s clear that many people are keen for themselves and their families to lead a healthier lifestyle.
“Our free community events are for children of all ages and abilities and our mission is to get children running from an early age so they start young and stay fit. Judging on the distances they achieved today, it’s clear that children really do love to run and we hope we can be a part of this great event next year.”
