PUBLIC speaking skills were put to the test during Warwick Rotary Club’s annual ‘Youth Speaks’ competition.
Teams of three from Myton School, Warwick School, Kings High School, Southam College and Princethorpe College went head to head to discuss a range of topics, from ‘save the sea’ to the legalisation of cannabis.
Teams had 12 minutes to tackle topics they felt strongly about and demanded significant research, knowledge and the confidence to present arguments clearly and concisely.
The intermediate category winner was a team from Warwick School which discussed ‘The future of artificial intelligence’ and whether it posed a threat or opportunity.
And a team from Myton School won the senior category with its topic ‘The real power of superheroes’.
Both teams will go forward to the regional finals at North Leamington School on March 9.
