ROYAL Leamington Spa ABC have welcomed two newly-qualified coaches to their growing team to support the club’s boxers.

Coaches Anna McKelvie and Jade Yeoman both successfully completed the England Boxing Level 1 coaching qualification.

The newly-qualified coaches attended the course over two weekends at the Lions Boxing Club in Brierley Hill.

In the ring, junior fighter Arjun Bahga competed in his first skills bout in Tamworth.

The fight took place at 48kg as a no-scoring contest as Bahga took on Tamworth’s Dan Agnew.

Bahga executed the instructions of his corner and attacked his much taller opponent with combinations to the body.

However, club boxer Ben Williams suffered disappointment after his opponent pulled out of a scheduled 51kg fight at the last minute.

Williams had travelled to Wolverhampton for the bout but his opponent suffered an injury in his warm-up which put pay to the fight.

The club has four more boxers competing in the ring in the coming weeks.
