SCOTT Easterlow tasted defeat on his home bow as Leamington boss after the Brakes lost 1-0 against play-off hopefuls Buxton.

Leamington have now failed to score in each of Easterlow’s two games at the helm as Luke Brennan’s early goal settled the contest at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.

The result leaves the Brakes bottom of the National League North table, 16 points from safety with eight matches left to play this season.

Easterlow took charge of his hometown club at home for the first time after beginning his reign with a 1-0 defeat at Darlington.

And Leamington faced Buxton in a rearranged fixture with the original clash abandoned at half time due to floodlight failure.

Brakes goalkeeper Eddie Brearey made a couple of early saves as he denied Johnny Johnston before Eric Yahaya cleared a shot off the line.

However, Buxton broke the deadlock after just eight minutes when Johnston teed up Brennan who placed a low shot past Brearey and into the net.

The home side responded as Ewan Williams fired a low effort wide of the goal before the same player saw another effort blocked over the crossbar.

Another chance went begging for the Brakes as Owen Farmer saw his strike whistle past the post before Brearey denied Johnston at full stretch moments before the break.

The Brakes pushed for an equaliser in the second period as Joe Young kept out Williams’ effort on the spin before substitute Frank Tattum shot straight at the keeper.

Leamington are next in action against Scarborough Athletic on Saturday, March 21 with kick-off at 3pm at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.
