LEAMINGTON have confirmed the resignation of manager Paul Holleran bringing an end to his 16-year spell in charge of the Brakes.
Holleran took charge of 789 games in a spell which lasted a staggering 5,893 days following his appointment in November 2009.
However, with the club currently bottom of the National League North table, the 55-year-old has opted to resign from his role.
Holleran said: “I have been on a wonderful journey with the football club and want to thank everyone for their fantastic support throughout my 16 years.
“I just feel the time is right for someone else to take over the reins and provide fresh ideas and impetus within the dressing room.
“Allied to this I have a number of health appointments in the coming month and my focus in the short term has to be on looking after myself.”
Leamington chairman, Jim Scott added: “We always knew this day would come and there are insufficient words to express our thanks for the fantastic contribution Paul has made to the club.
“He may have had the title ‘first team manager’ but for all the volunteers, fans and those who interacted with him within the club, his efforts went way beyond his job title and he has left a lasting legacy that is unlikely to be matched.”
The club have confirmed discussions will take place with Holleran in the coming weeks regarding a different role within the club for the former boss.
First team coach Chris Knott will take charge of the side for the club’s weekend fixture against Chorley.
Holleran’s final game in charge of Leamington came on December 30 last year as the Brakes suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Alfreton Town.
He guided the club to three promotions during his tenure while the Brakes achieved a club-record points tally at Step Two last term.
However, Leamington currently find themselves eight points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table on a 16-game winless run in the league.
The club begin the post-Holleran era away at Chorley on Saturday, January 3 with kick-off at 3pm at Victory Park.
