RACING Club Warwick suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Boldmere St Michaels despite the away side playing for more than an hour with 10-men.

An early goal from Harry Crook put the visitors ahead before James Harding missed a penalty and Pedro Lima saw red for the home side in a dramatic first half-hour at Townsend Meadow.

However, Boldmere doubled their lead early in the second period as Kyle Byrne’s goal left the hosts with a mountain to climb.

And the Racers finished the game with 10-men after the James Hancocks received his marching orders deep into injury time.

The result means Racing Club Warwick sit 11th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table with the club the same point gap away from the play-off places and relegation zone.

Boldmere broke the deadlock after just 10 minutes when Crook finished a low ball into the box from the right unmarked from eight-yards out.

The Racers won a penalty eight minutes later as a cross from the right struck Fraser Doyle on the arm in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

However, Warwick squandered the chance to equalise as Harding hit the base of the left post from 12-yards out as the ball bounced to safety.

Boldmere then had Lima sent off on the half-hour mark after he pulled Aaron Opoku to the ground just outside the penalty area with the pair competing to gain possession of a loose ball.

However, the visitors doubled their lead on 53 minutes when Byrne ran with the ball from inside his own half and coolly finished past Tom Allsopp from eight-yards out.

And the Racers finished the game with 10-men after Hancocks received a straight red card following a strong challenge on a Boldmere player in the closing stages.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Belper Town on Saturday, March 7 with kick-off at 3pm at the Raygar Stadium.
