TALENTED Cleary’s boxer Lewis Williams won a medal on his international debut for Great Britain.

Williams flew out to Helsinki, Finland, and put on a very good performance to claim silver.

Coach Edwin Cleary said: “Watching the fight from the UK, I could see the improvement he’s making.

“He’s always been a very good boxer and he’s filling out now which is helping him at the 91kg weight class.”

Williams now jets off to Romania for this month’s European under-22 championships and goes straight into the ABA Championships on his return.

Meanwhile, Morgan Ansell cruised to a unanimous win on Friday for England, beating Welsh Champion Catelin Cromie to cement her spot as No.1 48kg youth boxer in the country.

Representing her country for the fourth time, Ansell showed just how much she has improved after losing to the Welsh champ last year.

England coach Amanda Coulson said: “Morgan adapter her tactic really well in what was a great performance to claim the min.

“Her commitment and determination was never in doubt.”

Next up for Ansell is the GB Tri-nations in May with the promise her international year has only just begun.

There was also further good news for Ansell who will be put on the challenge phase of the England talent programme.
