Dream debut for Joe as OLs take over top spot

Leamington Editorial 20th Oct, 2021   0

OLD Leamingtonians produced a 12-try demolition of hosts Woodrush to move into top spot in Midlands Three West (South).

Centre Joe O’Loghlen, making his first XV debut, and winger Cameron Coutts, shared seven of the tries as OLs swept aside the hosts 74-0.

OLs were in total control of the game with Woodrush being kept continually on the back foot and time and again the home defence was opened by quick ball and good passing movements between the backs.

Tries followed at regular intervals and Ols led 38-0 at the break.

Coutts went over twice and further tries came from Callum Semple, Callum Gosse, Will Button and O’Loghlen. Henry Reynolds slotted home four conversions.

O’Loughlen completed his hat-trick in the second period, Coutts added two more, and Archie Semple and Andrew O’Toole finished off the scoring in a third league win in a row.

OLs, who sit one point ahead of Burbage, face a short trip to Southam on Saturday.

Kenilworth had a free weekend last week and return to action by travelling to Ludlow in Midlands One West on Saturday.

In Midlands Two West (South), Leamington go in search of their first win when they head to Pinley, who have also yet to record a victory.
