Ambitious Ansell facing stern test

Leamington Editorial 13th Feb, 2018

A BIG occasion awaits Cleary’s boxer Morgan Ansell as she enters the Youth Championships for her first time at 48kg.

Ansell has been matched against two very experienced boxers at the finals weekend in Doncaster and and could box twice over two days.

Ansell, in her first Youth Championships and boxing three-minute rounds for the first time, is really up against it but her Leamington club believes she can impress.

Owner Edwin Cleary said: “We had a option for the Cadets but Morgan wanted to be pushed to challenge the best and stake her claim for her international place.

“It’s a really big year for the youths internationally and she wants to be pushing for a place.

“On Sunday she traveled to Essex with Josh and Jake Finch and trained with the England squad as part of her final preparations.

“Jake was pushed on Sunday and had a very heavy sparring session. He’s had some great feedback from England and at 52kg things will happen for him very soon.”
