BOXING: RISING star Morgan Ansell will cross the English Channel next month to compete in France.

The talented teenager, who lives in Rugby and trains at Clearys Boxing Gym, will jet off to Paris on Friday, November 3, before taking to the ring the following two days for and England vs France dual.

Ansell is part of England’s squad of ten fighters from 48kg up to 60kg.

The event will provide Ansell with the first step to achieve her ultimate goal of competing at 2024 Olympic Games, which could also be held in Paris.

Preparation for the fight weekend is well underway.

Ansell, who first started boxing after being inspired by Nicola Adams’ gold medal success in London, attended a training camp in Tamworth this weekend.

She will also travel to Sheffield and Dagenham before the big weekend at the start of next month.

Coach Edwin Cleary said: “Morgan called me after her training camp concluded on Sunday.

“It was clear she had a tough weekend but she thoroughly enjoyed the camp.

“She will be boxing at 48kg, two kg heavier than last season.

“She’s the lightest in the squad going out to France and will have two more prep camps before flying out.”
