SPA Striders’ men’s and women’s teams continued their respective cross country league seasons.

The ladies made the short journey to Stratford in the Midlands League and finished 10th overall and third in the masters category.

Charlotte Everard led the ladies home in 27 minutes 41 seconds closely followed by Laura Peake (29:41), Kat Robertson (30:15), Lauren Turner (31:00), Anne Hurrell (31:21), Kirsty Middleton (31:47), Clare Hinton (31:58), Fiona Ferguson (32:20), Naomi Cruden (32:31), Emma Bish (33:49), Kate Gadsby (35:20), Ruth Tennant (36:30), Rosie Clarke (36:39), Mairi O’Shea (36:58), Kate Evans (37:35) and Claire Westrope (38:55).

The men travelled to Cheltenham for the second race of the Birmingham League season and, despite improving on last month’s performance, the team finished second last overall.

Chris McKeown (35:54) led the team home followed by Richard Spear (38:32), Adam Notley (39:15), John-Paul Hunt (40:02), Keith Wilson (40:35), Chris Wilson (40:39), Simon Ludford (41:26), Andy Collins (42:17), Tim Beresford (42:24), Simon Reiter (54:20) and Ian Davy (56:09).

Elsewhere, Dexter Teale and Ben Parkinson took on the Maverick Adidas Terrex Original Oxfordshire Half Marathon with the former finishing in a time of 2:00:01 and the latter in 2:08:42.

Another Strider in action was Kelsey Wiberley who ran the Worcester Ring Run on Sunday – a casual 22-mile trek around the mud, canals and hurdling fishing poles around the city – and she even managed to add some extra hills after misreading some of the signs on the course.

A couple of the club’s athletes headed off to Spain as Gary Perkins travelled to Lanzarote to complete the 10k in a tidy time of 58:59 whilst Kevin McKeever raced the Valencia marathon coming home in a very respectable 3:58:18.

Lastly, Michelle Paget raced in the World Cyclo Masters Cross Championships and finished 15th in her age category in a time of 1:00:29.
