ATHLETICS - Striders out in force at Warwick Half Marathon

MORE than 70 Spa Striders athletes took part in the Warwick Half Marathon this past weekend.

And several Striders impressed over the distance as Steve French (1:24:07), Pete Teevan (1:27:05), Jason Hemming (1:29:21) all achieved new personal best (PB) times and finished inside 90 minutes.

Just behind were Rich Humphrey (1:31:24), Mark Whitehouse (1:33:28), Kirsty Middleton (1:36:08), Ben Cohen (1:36:12), Naomi Patterson (1:36:18), Kenny Gregor (1:37:39) and Daniel Hobson (1:37:53) who all finished in under one hour 40 minutes and all set new PB’s.

Further PB’s were achieved by Naomi Cruden (1:40:46), Kevin McKeever (1:41:35), Richard Shelling (1:45:24), Florencia Brea (1:48:41), Rosie Clarke (1:50:12), James Robbins (1:50:51), Tim Robb (2:03:32), Paul Palmer (2:07:41) and Charlotte Clulee (2:07:41).




And Spa runners Ian Davy (2:17:30) and Philip Haines (2:20:01) both did extremely well racing in their first ever half marathon.

Elsewhere, Kelsey Wiberley covered 40 miles in the six-hour Big Bear Events Grizzly Bear Challenge whilst Nisha Kandola finished in 52 mins 44 secs in the London Winter 10k despite being unwell earlier in the week.


Lastly, Richard Spear took part in the Birmingham Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Cross Country Championships at Pembrey Country Park, Wales and completed the 10.5km course in 41 mins 16 secs.
