SPA Striders athletes competed in a variety of events this past weekend including the Draycote Water Running Festival and Balsall Common 10k.
Striders began the weekend at the Draycote Water Running Festival with Simon Reiter first in his age category over the 5k distance as he finished 11th overall in 24 minutes 46 seconds.
And fellow Strider Neil Smith secured an impressive podium finish over the half-marathon distance as he came home second in a time of 1 hour 15 mins 20 secs.
Striders were also out in force at the Balsall Common 10k with the race the penultimate event in the Warwickshire Road Race League and the club’s own Summer Series.
And leading Striders’ men home was Richard Spear who finished 13th overall in 37 mins 37 secs followed closely by Chris Wilson (14th) in 37 mins 50 secs and Jason Hemming 42 mins and 19 secs.
The next Strider home was Charlotte Everard in 42 mins 22 secs who finished as the third lady overall.
Other Striders to finish included: Mark Robbins (44:00), Richard Shelling (46:55), Kate Gadsby (51:02), Richard Lowery (51:30), Rosanna Clarke (51:40 PB), Ian Davy (58:32), Paul Palmer (1:00:52), Gill Walker (1:03:07) and Maria Struthers (1:15:54).
Elsewhere, Gethyn Friswell clocked up plenty of mileage in the Equinox 24hr race at Belvoir Castle
Friswell, along with four friends, took it in turns to complete as many trail 10k laps as possible within a 24-hour time period.
And the team managed an impressive 24 laps, with Friswell running six individual laps totalling 36 miles, to finish 15th out of 91 teams in their category.
