SPA Striders’ men’s team claimed victory in the Ashby 20 road race held in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire.
Some 17 Striders took part in the 20-mile road race as Neil Smith led the victorious men’s team home in a time of 1 hour 54 minutes 13 seconds to place sixth overall.
He was followed by Chris McKeown in ninth (1:57:33) and Adam Notley 20th (2:01:39) as the men finished first in the team standings.
The first female Strider across the line was Kat Robertson (2:30:07) followed by Clare Hinton (2:32:51), Gethyn Friswell (2:35:35), Ben Cohen (2:38:02), Carolyn Wilkinson (2:38:25) and Mark Whitehouse (2:39:50) who all finished inside two hours and 40 minutes.
Next to finish was Mel Venables (2:43:54), Phil Houghton (2:44:13), Claire Davidson (2:45:00), Emma Bish (2:46:08), Michelle Hutton (2:49:42), Alex Quinn (2:49:47), Amy Butler (3:19:13) and Abi Morton (3:25:53).
Elsewhere, Maria Struthers impressed in the Liverpool Skyline half marathon to finish in 2:39:31 on what was her debut race over the distance.
Lastly, Andy Roach competed in the Oakley 20-mile race in Bedfordshire and finished in a time of 2:55:40 whilst Jason Hemming ran 43:19 and Mark Robbins 44:51 in the Wolverhampton 10k.
