Bar set high at Norton Lindsey ahead of Cotswold Hills campaign

CRICKET: THE bar has been set high at Norton Lindsey cricket club as preparations start for the 2018 Cotswold Hills League campaign.

Last year saw the first team just miss out on Premier Division title glory while the seconds achieved promotion to Division Two, meaning the club with have teams in the Cotswolds’ top two tiers this season.

James Pyatt will remain as skipper for the first team, he’ll be supported by vice-captain Martin Perfect.

The 2nd and 3rd teams will again be led by run-machine Dan Fell and evergreen Martin Hall, assisted by the experienced Steve Rushton and Stuart Prout-Richardson.

Once again, the club has a full weekend and midweek fixture list – and an U13s team will compete in the Cotswold Junior League for the first time.

There are also growth plans off the pitch following the installation of two all-weather practice nets last summer.

Plans this year include the redevelopment of the changing rooms, and the introduction of a new patio area for social events.

A spring tour to the west country has also attracted more than 20 players.

The club will continue preparations for the 2018 season at its AGM on Friday, February 16, before winter nets start a week later at Warwickshire College in Henley-in-Arden from 6pm.
