BOWLS - Lillington Ladies win Coventry and District League Knockout Cup in close final

LILLINGTON Bowling Club won the Coventry and District League Knockout Cup in a close final against Three Spires.

The game took place at Stoke Bowling Club in Coventry over two rinks with the overall score deciding the winners.

And the Lillington trio of Jenny Corn with Pippa Mace and Jayne Henfrey overcame Three Spires players Marie Starkey, Lynne Evans and Anne High in a closely contested first rink game.

The match was level at six-all before Lillington took six shots on the 13th end to pull clear and win the first rink contest 23-14.

However, Lillington’s Sue Hornsby with Chris Venn and Margaret Grosvenor found themselves 12-3 down after 11 ends on the second rink against Three Spires players Jackie Perkins, Ella Johnson and Pat Moore.

With two ends left to play, the overall score was level at 28-all before Lillington picked up five shots on the 17th end to move two shots in front heading into the final throws.




And Lillington added another three shots to their total to claim a 36-31 victory and lift the Coventry and District League Knockout Cup.
