BOWLS - Warwickshire women beaten by Worcestershire in friendly

WARWICKSHIRE Women suffered a 97-79 defeat against county rivals Worcestershire in a friendly game played at Blossomfield Bowls Club.

The highest winning rink went to skip Heather Mills (Grange Ladies) with Caroline Harris (Nuneaton), Jane Henfrey and Margaret Grosvenor (both Lillington) as the Warwickshire foursome ran away with the game after the sixth end to record a 20-13 victory.

Jenny Corn (Lillington) with Lynne Innes (Stratford), Di Wilkinson and Elaine Taylor (both Stoke) were ahead until the 12th end before the visitors drew level only for Warwickshire to eventually triumph 14-11.

However, Debbie Bloxham (Stratford) with Lily-Mae Adams, Joy Cooke (both Sherwood Park) and Vivienne Belt (Stratford) suffered a 21-13 defeat despite picking up 11 shots in the final eight ends.

On rink three, Donna Kerr and Sue Hornsby (both Lillington) with Lynne Fowler and Velisa Brown (both Southam) led by four shots at the 11th end only for Worcestershire to mount a comeback to secure a 14-all draw.

Pippa Mace (Lillington) with Liz Crispin (Wolvey), Margaret Colvin and Elspeth Summers (both Stratford) were only able to win six ends in a 21-9 defeat.




Lastly, Pat Lowe (Rugby Thornfield) with Linda Linney (Stratford), Di Medhurst (Nuneaton) and Sharon Keal (Stratford) made a good start but faltered at the eighth end to eventually lose by a 17-9 scoreline.
