CLEARY’S Boxing Gym fighter Matty Harris is gearing up for his first fight of the New Year after the heavyweight prospect was added to the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr’s bout with Liam Smith.
Harris has a 3-0 record as a professional and dispatched his two previous opponents, Pawel Strykowski and Mait Metsis, by knockout in the first round.
And Harris will hope to maintain his unbeaten start in the pro ranks when he enters the ring for the first time since June last year at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday, January 21.
Harris is joined on the undercard by fellow undefeated British fighters Frazer Clarke, Richard Riakporhe and Ekow Essuman.
Also fighting on the undercard is experienced Kiwi boxer Joseph Parker who challenged Anthony Joshua back in 2018 and is a former WBO heavyweight champion.
The main event pits Eubank Jr (32-2) against Smith (32-3-1) in a middleweight bout with the former previously holding the IBO super-middleweight title and the latter the WBO light-middleweight belt.
Harris was due to fight on the undercard of Eubank Jr’s proposed high profile bout against Conor Benn in October only for the card to be cancelled days beforehand after the latter tested positive for a banned substance.
The fight will be available to watch on Sky Sports pay-per-view for £19.95 and takes place on Saturday, January 21 at the AO Arena in Manchester.
