CLEARY’S Boxing Gym fighters Jaya Kalsi and Serena Mali both secured unanimous decision victories in their respective England Boxing Schools Championships bouts.
Kalsi and Mali led the way for Leamington and Warwick’s female fighters to dispatch two Yorkshire champions in Bridlington.
And Kalsi, aged 13, who attends Aylesford School, booked her place in the semi-finals with a points win against Huddersfield’s Evie Brooksbank.
Kalsi, a national champion in 2021 and European quarter-finalist, said: “I’m really happy to be fighting in the semi-finals and I’m aiming to win the National title and become national champion 2023.”
And Mali, who recently turned 14 and attends Myton School, won a unanimous decision against Sheffield’s Chloe Dunn to reach the quarter-finals.
Mali, a two-time national champion and European silver medallist, said: I’m really looking forward to try and win my third national title.”
Kalsi fights in Surrey next weekend whilst Mali travels to Liverpool in her quest to claim a third national title with the pair coached by Roy Thornton and Chris Adams.
