BOXING - Harris secures 23-second knockout

MATTY Harris knocked out his latest opponent in just 23 seconds to stretch his unbeaten record to 5-0 with a first-round win at York Hall.

Harris took less than half a minute to dispatch Bosnian fighter Milos Veletic (2-3) and finished the bout with a sickening left hook live on Channel 5.

The Leamington heavyweight, who trains at Cleary’s Boxing Gym, has now won each of his last four fights by way of first-round knockout.

Harris said: “I just came out relaxed, I’ve been knocking people out with my right hand and my coach said to show people I can do it with both and it came really early.

“I’ve been working so hard and now I’m just starting to show the world what I’m capable of.

“I want to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, I’ve got a long way to go, this sport has changed my life.”

Promoter Kalle Sauerland added: “It’s all about the heavyweights at the moment, this man [Harris] was preparing Anthony Joshua.

“We know where we want to get to by the end of this year, we’re going to go for that Youth Heavyweight World Championship, this man can hit like no other heavyweight I’ve seen at this age.

“I’ve had 23 years in the business and this man is phenomenal, he can mix it up with both hands very quickly, I’ve promoted many heavyweight world champions and his hands are dynamite.

“It’s just the beginning, there’s a reason Joshua and Tyson Fury are calling him for sparring because they know, he’s a big man who can move and has an even bigger punch.”
