BOXING: Leamington-based boxer Michael Cole will face one of the toughest tasks of his career in London tomorrow night when going toe-to-toe with Conor Benn, son of legendary fighter Nigel Benn.
Cole was given less than 24-hours notice for the showdown which will be aired live on Sky Sports, but his quick acceptance has left the southpaw with a chance to make his mark on the global stage.
Still undefeated at professional level, the 29-year-old has fought in four professional bouts to date – with tomorrow’s fight being by far the biggest yet.
His opponent stems from one of boxing’s great, Nigel Benn – whose second fight against Chris Eubank at Old Trafford in Manchester in 1993 was watched by more than half a billion people.
Conor Benn made his professional debut in April last year, defeating Bulgarian fighter Ivailo Boyanov by technical knockout in the first round.
Both fighters are currently unbeaten.
Father Nigel continues to hit the headlines though following the announcement of a re-match between himself and Irishman Steve Collins, which was agreed yetserday – 21 years after the pair last met in the ring.
