LEAMINGTON CC claimed a winning draw against Kidderminster thanks to centuries from Oliver Currill and Shane Dowrich to remain above the Birmingham Premier League Division One drop zone.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat only to lose opener Luke De Souza for one, Joshua De Souza for five and Harrison Smith for 34 to leave them on 50-3.
However, after Jonathan Wigley (12) was dismissed, Currill came to the crease and formed a phenomenal partnership with Dowrich.
The pair put on 222 runs for Leamington’s fifth wicket after Currill was eventually trapped lbw on 137 from just 112 balls as he smashed a remarkable 13 sixes.
Dorwich finished the innings unbeaten on 116 from 91 deliveries, hitting 17 boundaries, with Nathan Hooker (1) the only other batter to fall as Leamington ended their 55 overs on 309-6.
Mid-table Kidderminster made a promising start to the run chase with Andrew Kimberlin (27), Sinel Gunarathne (24), Vikai Kelley (25) and M G Pardoe (17) all making useful contributions.
That left the home side on 104-4 before Callum Bennett (12) and Barney Morgan (1) both fell cheaply to put Leamington in command.
Kidderminster’s Neil Pinner provided the greatest resistance as he hit an impressive 95 from 72 balls before he was caught and bowled by Wigley.
Charlie Stainforth added 28 with Kidderminster finishing on 270-8, some 39 runs short of the required total, at the end of their 55 overs.
Matthew Davison (3-23) and Wigley (3-54) both impressed with the ball for Leamington with Pierce Ryan (1-40) and Tom Warner (1-56) also amongst the wickets.
The result means Leamington sit 10th in the table, level on points with Ombersley CC who are in the relegation zone.
