NORTON Lindsey and Wolverton Cricket Club recently held a presentation and awards dinner at the Stratford Park Hotel.
The club reviewed their achievements from the season just gone as the first XI celebrated promotion as Cotswold Hills League Division Two champions.
Club captain Andrew Dellow congratulated members for their contributions on and off the pitch and gave a special mention to the tireless efforts of Berni Roberts.
The club presented a number of trophies on the night including to the club’s lady volunteers who look after both sets of players on matchdays.
On the field, Harry Clarke scored three Saturday League centuries, and with Jake Rushton, passed one thousand runs for the season.
Clarke scored nine half-centuries and four hundreds giving him an average of 63 from 29 innings.
With the ball, Dave Jarrett (two matches), Mark Reading and Steve Dellow all claimed five-wicket hauls while Andrew Dellow celebrated the best club figures of 6-30 against Woodbourne.
Ollie Watson took 47 wickets at an average of 17, closely followed by Martin Hall (36 at 17) and Simba Mudimu (35 at 10).
Captain’s balls were awarded to first team player Ollie Watson, second team player Julian Watson and Sunday team player Nick Frost.
Norton’s club president praised the efforts of the first team for achieving promotion and for only losing one match over the course of the campaign.
The club’s second XI suffered relegation to Division Four but are hoping to bounce back at the first attempt next season.
A number of club members also represented Warwickshire at county level in seniors games during the year.
Stuart and Gavin Shephard, Steve Bliwert and Jarrett joined Dave McInnes in Warwickshire’s 50-plus team while Steve Dellow appeared regularly for the county’s 60-plus side.
