KENILWORTH Croquet Club are celebrating a fine 2025 season which included national recognition and domestic success along with growing participation numbers.

The club opened its lawns for the season in March and Kenilworth received national recognition which sparked a successful year for the club.

Kenilworth became the first club in the country to receive Croquet England’s Silver Club Mark Accreditation.

The accreditation at silver level reflects a club’s excellence in governance, coaching, safeguarding and community engagement.

Kenilworth also received the Chris and Gail Barley Award to become the inaugural recipients of the prize.

The award recognises Kenilworth’s positive approach to growth, development and community involvement.

Coaching and development has underpinned the club’s success with association croquet sessions led by Adrian Morris, and supported by Mervyn Harvey, proving popular.

The club also enjoyed plenty of success in competitions throughout the year across both codes – golf croquet and association croquet.

Tournaments organised by Philip Wood, Pauline Harvey, Jon Hodge and Morris produced a number of thrilling matches.

One of the highlights of the season saw Kenilworth triumph at the Kenilworth Festival event while the club’s WMF6+ league team, captained by Tony Watmore, won the Eastern Section title.

Kenilworth’s association croquet league team finished second overall after a season of strong performances.

The club’s B team won the Robertshaw Cup at the first attempt with a narrow victory against the previous year’s winners Kenilworth A.

Both Kenilworth teams went into the final unbeaten as strong singles performances from P Harvey and Nick Hegan secured a 4-2 victory for the B side.

Away from the competitive action, the club completed a number of demonstrations and coaching events throughout the year, introducing the sport to the local community.

This includes u3a groups, open days, friendly matches and festival activities to encourage participation across all age groups.
