KENILWORTH Tennis, Squash and Croquet Club dominated proceedings at this year’s Robertshaw Cup.
The croquet club’s B team enjoyed a debut win in the competition held in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
And the B team won the prestigious tournament at their first attempt defeating defending champions Kenilworth A in a thrilling final.
The Robertshaw Cup was donated and devised by Paul Robertshaw of Himley.
The top four teams from the previous season’s West Midlands Federation Golf Croquet League contest the tournament.
Birmingham Edgbaston Croquet Club hosted this year’s competition.
And Broadwas, Himley, Kenilworth A and Kenilworth B were the four teams taking part across three rounds.
Each match involved three players per team with two singles and one doubles game played per round.
And Kenilworth B’s trio of Pauline Harvey (four handicap), Nick Hegan (three) and Ian Robertson (three) entered the competition with the joint highest team handicap.
However, the threesome quickly established themselves as serious contenders with a surprise win against Broadwas.
And Kenilworth A overcame Himley in their first match.
In the second round of matches, Kenilworth’s B team defeated Himley while the A team saw off Broadwas.
This set up an all-Kenilworth final as the B team won key singles matches in rounds one and three.
And the B team also swept all the games in round two – securing a 4-2 victory to lift the trophy.
Harvey starred throughout the competition as she won all of her singles and doubles matches.
Kenilworth’s tournament manager, Mervyn Harvey said: “It was a fantastic day of croquet played in great spirit.
“Kenilworth B’s teamwork and composure were outstanding.
“Their win highlights the growing strength and depth of talent within our club.”
The club are continually looking for newcomers to take up the sport at Crackley Lane.
