HOCKEY: FREE flowing play helped Warwick’s fourth team earn a much deserved win against Cannock on Saturday.
Claudio Cardellino, Josh Cooper, Ian Stickels, and Russell East all got on the scoresheet at Warwick beat their Staffordshire rivals with relative ease.
Warwick made a good start, scoring two goals in the opening five minutes, as skipper Cardellino ordered his team to push forward.
Cooper bagged the first goal after rounding the keeper before Stickles doubles the visitors’ lead just minutes later.
Cardellino’s touch made it three for Warwick on 15 minutes when a powerful cross pitch pass found the skipper’s stick.
That was before Russell East made it four on 25 minutes following a four-man move.
A dominant defence allowed Warwick’s midfield and forward units to dictate play.
Despite this, the visitors failed to score again. Instead, Cannock pulled a goal back from a short corner moments before time.
The win came as a big confidence boost to Warwick nonetheless.
