A DISC golf player from Leamington triumphed at the European Masters Disc Golf Championship in Salzgitter, Germany.

Derek Robins came out on top in the mixed pro 65-plus division for players born in 1960 or earlier.

Robins finished just one shot ahead of runner-up George Braun after he posted a final round score of 59 to finish on three under par.

He also received just under £600 in prize money.

Robins posted rounds of 62, 61, 63 before a final round 59 saw him clinch the title.

The event determined titles in nine different age restricted divisions from 40 and above through to 70-years-old with separate divisions for women.

The British Open Disc Golf Championships take place at Quarry Park in Leamington this weekend.

The three-day event begins on Friday, September 5 with play to start at 4.30pm.

Finland’s Elias Luukunen and Kenilworth’s Noah Smithson are expected to challenge for top honours.
