Entries soon open for Warwick's annuals Mixed Triple bowls championship

Leamington Editorial 9th Jan, 2018   0

BOWLS: ENTRIES will soon be open for the annual Warwick Town Mixed Triple competition, to be held in August.

Last year – for the second year running – a team from Warwick Boat Club scooped the first prize as David Carson’s team triumphed over Barry Grant’s Warwickshire County Council team.

The Warwick Town trophy dates back to 1914 when it belonged to the Warwick Town Bowls Club – that was until the club was dissolved in the 1950s.

The competition was revived in 1995 by the Mayor Bryn Brewster and the Boat Club has staged it ever since.

Open to anyone living in CV34 postcode, or belonging to Warwick-based bowls clubs, entries will be accepted from January 21 onwards.

Mixed triples teams must comprise of either two ladies and one gentleman or two gentlemen and one lady.

This year, the semi-finals and the final will take place at the Warwick Boat Club on Sunday August 5.

The 2018 entry forms are available from the co-ordinator, Sandra Dean.

Email [email protected] or call 01926 491154 to receive an entry form. The deadline for entries is Friday, March 2.

The competition draw will take place on Friday, March 16, and team captains will be notified of a list of teams and match deadlines by the co-ordinator afterwards.
