LAURA Collett won her first senior individual European gold medal at the FEI Eventing European Championships at Blenheim Palace.
Collett clinched gold ahead of Germany’s Michael Jung in the individual event while her GB teammate Tom McEwen took bronze.
The Leamington rider triumphed on her horse London 52 to become an individual medallist at every level of the sport.
Collett said: “They say dreams come true but I didn’t even dream this.
“The words aren’t really there. This is for him [London 52], it’s all for him.
“It’s a local event for me and to be here, sitting on a horse like him and to have another head-to-head with Michi – it’s what makes the sport and the horses so special.”
She finished ahead of Olympic champion Jung after scoring 27.0 overall in the showjumping event with Collett last to take to the course.
Collett and London 52 scored 20.6 in the dressage phase and 26.6 in the cross country event.
The 36-year-old has now won nine European medals including junior and youth titles.
She won two medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in eventing for Team GB.
