THREE pre-season appointments have been made at Bericote Road, after a big shake-up to the coaching staff at Old Leamingtonians.

Craig Ellis, the club’s chairman of rugby, has pinpointed three names he views as crucial to boosting the club’s chances of promotion this season, bringing in Adam Canning, Tom Cruse and Ben Harris.

Canning, a former Coventry Rugby player, becomes Old Leams’ new head coach and will serve as mentor to the club’s backs.

Cruse and Harris arrive as forwards coaches from Wasps, for whom the pair play in the front row.

OL seek to improve on their third-placed finish in Midlands 3 West (South) last term, with the policy of recruiting from the club’s Colts side one that is set to continue in the forthcoming season.

Meanwhile, chairman Phil Eales paid tribute to outgoing coach Scott Conduit for his work at the club in the previous three campaigns, but spoke of his excitement to see the developments at the club take shape.
