CRICKET: FLOODLIT cricket will return to the region this year as Kenilworth Wardens hosts the Harlequin Logistics T20 Floodlit Cup for a fifth successive year.

The innovative tournament, which sees some of Warwickshire’s top teams play against each other under floodlights, takes place over three days (August 21-August 23) before a Friday evening (August 25) grand final.

Coloured kit, music, and general razzmatazz can be expected by spectators, who will only have to pay £2 to enter on foot or £5 by car.

A number of first class professionals will be on show throughout the week.

Wardens first team captain Junead Zaman said: “The whole community can benefit from this event with top class cricket played in a great environment in the heart of Kenilworth.

“We can only hope youngsters will be inspired by watching the likes of New Zealand’s George Woker and Saurashtra state’s Prerak Mankad.”

From Monday to Wednesday, two games will take place per night – each starting at 5.30pm and 8pm.

Friday’s Grand Final will start at 8pm.

The week promises to be a cricketing extravaganza, and defending champions Kenilworth Wardens will be aiming to defend their crown.
