FOOTBALL - Brakes extend unbeaten run after draw at Farsley

DAN Turner’s goal helped Leamington extend their unbeaten run to five matches after the Brakes were held to a 1-1 draw away at relegation rivals Farsley Celtic.

Turner broke the deadlock early in the second period only for Lewis Turner to equalise just past the hour mark in the snow at The Citadel.

The result means Leamington sit 19th in the National League North table, three points clear of the relegation zone.

There was a delay to kick-off after heavy snowfall meant the lines had to be swept with Leamington’s chairman helping to sweep snow off the field.

And after a goalless first half, D Turner curled home a superb opener on 49 minutes to leave Farsley stunned.

However, the home side equalised on 61 minutes when L Turner finished Lewis Butroid’s cross at the back post.

And Brakes goalkeeper Ted Cann made an outstanding double save to keep the scores level as he denied both Tom Allan and Theo Williams in quick succession.

Leamington are next in action away at Peterborough Sports on Saturday, March 18 with kick-off at 3pm at Lincoln Road.
