LEAMINGTON battled to a pair of 1-1 draws against Gloucester City over the festive period as the Brakes winless run in the league stretched to 10 matches.

The Brakes came from behind to draw both games as Adam Walker’s late equaliser rescued a point at Gloucester’s Meadow Park ground on New Year’s Day after Dan Turner levelled in the Boxing Day clash at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.

The results mean Leamington sit 15th in the National League North table having drawn 13 of their 24 league matches this season.

Gloucester’s Matt McClure opened the scoring in the Brakes first game of the New Year on 34 minutes when his shot somehow squeezed under Callum Hawkins in the Leamington goal.

However, the Brakes eventually drew level on 77 minutes when Walker beat two defenders on the edge of the penalty area before sweeping an effort past Gloucester goalkeeper Billy Johnson.

That came after the two teams drew by the same scoreline on Boxing Day as McClure again broke the deadlock after just 11 minutes when he turned the ball home at the second attempt after good work from Michael Gyasi.

Paul Holleran’s side equalised just before half time when Turner finished into an empty net after Johnson clattered into another Gloucester player as he tried to claim a cross with the goal awarded following a brief deliberation between the referee and his assistant.

Leamington are next in action at home to Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, January 7 with kick-off at 3pm at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
