SIMEON Cobourne scored an injury time equaliser as Racing Club Warwick snatched a late point in a 1-1 draw with St Neots Town.

Cobourne’s fine goal from 20-yards out rescued a point for the Racers after Rhys Thorpe’s early header put St Neots ahead at Kester Way.

The result means Warwick slip to third in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, eight points behind leaders Wellingborough Town with a game in-hand.

St Neots took the lead on 13 minutes when Thorpe headed home Jordan Brown’s cross from the left at the near post from close range.

Warwick goalkeeper Sam Lomax then made a couple of crucial saves to keep the visitors in the contest as he denied Thorpe when one-on-one.

The Racers went close to an equaliser soon after as St Neots keeper James Goff made an excellent save to tip Harry Sawyer’s shot at the back post onto the crossbar from point-blank range.

And the visitors won a penalty in the second half as Sawyer drew a foul in the box only for Goff to save Luke Shearer’s penalty low down to his right-hand side.

However, Racing eventually drew level two minutes into injury time when Cobourne fired the ball into the left corner of the goal from 20-yards out after exchanging passes with substitute Jamie Ashmore.

And the Racers had a chance to win the game moments later when Cobourne burst down the right only for his pass to evade the two waiting Warwick players in the box.

Warwick are next in action away at Godmanchester Rovers on Saturday, March 9 with kick-off at 3pm at Bearscroft Lane.
