LEAMINGTON extended their unbeaten run in the league to four matches with a 2-1 home victory against Kettering Town.
First-half goals from Cally Stewart and Tyrone Barnett put the Brakes in command at the interval before Kettering’s Sam Bennett reduced the deficit at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.
And the result means Leamington sit sixth in the Southern League Premier Central table, outside of the play-off places on goal difference.
The Brakes took the lead on 12 minutes when Stewart finished off a well-worked move with a tap in at the back post.
And Leamington doubled their advantage on 41 minutes as Barnett headed home a dangerous free-kick to score his third goal in the last four league games.
The home side thought they had sealed the points before the break when Henry Landers scored directly from a corner only for the referee to blow for a foul on the Kettering goalkeeper.
Kettering responded on 58 minutes when Bennett found the net but were unable to draw level as the Brakes held firm to secure a hard-fought victory.
Leamington are next in action at home to Leiston on Saturday, November 11 with kick-off at 3pm at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
